kamai Technologies, global service provider for accelerating content and business processes online, and Peopleclick Inc., leading Total Workforce Acquisition provider for global organizations, announced that Akamai's Web Application Accelerator Solution is providing faster application performance and improved availability to Peopleclick's clients.

Peopleclick's Recruitment Management System (RMS) is delivered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that streamlines the work of recruiters and hiring managers by automating and tracking the total hiring process. With Akamai's solution, Peopleclick RMS clients are ensured increased productivity, regardless of where they are located by leveraging Akamai's global network of 19,000 servers.

"This investment allows greater productivity for all of our clients. With more than 500,000 users and candidates accessing Peopleclick RMS in 192 countries, our applications must be highly responsive," said Tom Bright, chief technology officer and senior vice president of technology for Peopleclick. "Akamai has helped reduce client log-in times and enabled clients to get more done in less time."

Akamai's Web Application Accelerator solution delivers capacity on demand to handle peak periods of application usage. As the SaaS model continues to gain prominence, the role of application acceleration is becoming increasingly vital to vendors such as Peopleclick that service large Fortune 500 companies. Twenty-eight percent of Peopleclick's clients are outside the U.S., including enterprises that attract a global pool of candidates, such as Philips, Siemens and T-Mobile. With the responsibility of performance resting squarely with the service provider, Akamai's Web Application Accelerator solution provides SaaS vendors a mechanism by which they can assure their clients of performance and availability.

"For enterprises like Peopleclick that serve a global customer base, application performance and availability are critical, regardless of end-user location," said Robert Hughes, executive vice president, global sales, services and marketing, Akamai. "Akamai's solution provides the assurance of performance and reliability for delivery across a SaaS model, allowing Peopleclick to focus on its core strengths."
