The organizers of the seventh annual YAPC::Europe conference announced that the website for the Birmingham event is now online at http://www.birmingham2006.com/. A specific date for the conference is not set yet; it is expected to take place in the late summer or early autumn.

From the official announcement: " The site will be updated with newsletters, articles and news over the coming months. We will be featuring both conference related articles as well as things to do in and around Birmingham, for anyone wishing to extend their stay."

The official conference wiki has also been launched ( http://wiki.birmingham2006.com/ ). To use the wiki, users need to register. The organizers explain: "Due to the amount of wiki spam that has plagued other wikis, we have decided to lock down the wiki a little to only allow registered users to have write access. There are a couple of pages only admins can edit, but pretty much everything else you'll have access to."

YAPC (Yet Another Perl Conference) is an inexpensive conference with its roots in the Perl Mongers Perl users groups.  YAPC began as a smaller, regional version of TPC in the Eastern USA, hosted by Carnegie Mellon University, and has become a series of conferences held in multiple areas of the globe, all aimed at bringing together the Perl community in an accessible manner.  Currently there are four YAPCs: YAPC::NA, YAPC::Europe, YAPC::Asia, and YAPC::Brasil.
