The first stable version of PHP development platform Cake was released
today. Its goal is to provide a structured framework that enables PHP
users at all levels to rapidly develop robust web applications, without
any loss to flexibility.
Creators
Cake Software Foundation say it is "a rapid development framework for
PHP which uses commonly known design patterns like ActiveRecord,
Association Data Mapping, Front Controller and MVC."
The project
website at cakephp.org offers access to documentation and installation
files. The v1.0 distribution archive is around 200KB in size. It is
available for download at cakeforge.org . Cake is distributed under the
MIT License.
Version 1.0.1.2708 is the final result of five
months of development. The list of planned features for v2.0 is
available at https://trac.cakephp.org/wiki/Proposals/2.0ToDoList .
