Volity - A Free Perl / Java Game Development Platform

Volity is an open source Internet gaming platform built with Perl and Java. The Volity client, Gamut version 0.3.4, was just released. Volity and Gamut are oriented towards the game developer who is looking for a new platform, or the gamer looking for a "board game"-like experience.

The project website at http://volity.org provides access to the Gamut Java client, the Frivolity Perl programming platform , and the documentation. Volity.net, on the other hand, is the portal community website, where users can play the Volity games.

The three-person development team has implemented a couple of pure strategy games as demos (Treehouse, Barsoomite Go); also Fluxx and Aquarius, two popular card games designed by Looney Labs. Space Station Assault is another card game published by Your Move Games. Two strategic connection games, Hex and Y, have also been contributed.
