Microsoft Corp. released a patch Tuesday to fix an Internet Explorer browser flaw that had already been exploited in some Internet attacks.  Two more patches for Windows OS were released as well.

The critical patches, which according to Microsoft address the highest threats - fix flaws that could allow an attacker to take control of a remote system.

Microsoft has been aware that a flaw in its Internet Explorer had been made public. The company releases monthly security fixes.  Building a patch is complex because Microsoft must make sure that fixing one part of its vast Windows operating system does not affect anything else.

In the meantime, third-party companies provided users with temporary fixes for the Internet Explorer flaw.
