New Release of InfoVista’s Technology Platform Powers Performance Assurance for Next Generation Services

October 15, 2007; 06:24 AM

PARIS & HERNDON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--InfoVista (Euronext IFV - FR0004031649), the leading service-centric performance management software vendor, today announced the release of VistaFoundation® Kit 4.0, a next-generation version of the companys underlying technology platform that powers the latest versions of the VistaInsight® suite of solutions. VistaFoundation is a set of software components that transparently provide many of the core underlying capabilities in InfoVistas suite of performance management solutions for next generation services and infrastructure.

InfoVista separately today unveiled VistaInsight for Networks 3.0, the updated version of its flagship performance-monitoring software (see press release entitled, InfoVista Unveils New Solution to Support Growing Demand for Business-Class Services over Carrier Ethernet by clicking www.infovista.com/about_infovista/news/press_releases/en/default.asp).

VistaFoundation Kit 4.0 provides a powerful combination of near real-time data collection and push technology so that InfoVista service provider and enterprise customers can automatically receive service delivery and performance metrics at their desktops enabling them to anticipate and proactively address performance degradation before it occurs. These new capabilities give customers unprecedented visibility into the health of their infrastructure, ensuring revenue-generating services and applications are always up and running. As one of the most scalable performance management platforms available today, VistaFoundation Kit 4.0 can support the worlds largest global networked infrastructures.

Our latest version of VistaFoundation includes some of the most revolutionary technology advances offered in the industry, including a new analytics engine and robust real-time middleware that significantly advances InfoVistas commitment to providing as near real-time visibility into the performance of critical networks as possible, noted Manuel Stopnicki, chief technology officer, InfoVista. Were answering the call from customers that have long trusted us to provide them with the most comprehensive data that they need to deliver the highest quality user experience.

VistaFoundation 4.0 Upgrades At-a-glance

  • New Real-Time Middleware: Instead of batch-based methods, InfoVista servers automatically push new data to the VistaMart Database on an ongoing basis. This ensures that data communication between the InfoVista Server and VistaMart is more robust, and immediate, as updates are made more frequently. In addition, management complexity is dramatically reduced and the overall architecture performance is greatly improved.
  • VistaMart Analytics: VistaMart now has similar analytics and formula capability previously only available on the InfoVista servers. As a result, VistaMart can perform sophisticated analytics across enterprise wide data and provide users with virtually limitless variations of this analysisacross multi-tiered services, technologies, business units, customers, regions, branch offices or datacenter locations, etc. These analytics are also available for any data pushed into VistaMart through the VistaBridge product, opening the door to a new range of applications involving data available only in EMSs, databases or files.
  • New Data Acquisition Protocols: VistaFoundation Kit 4.0 includes support for new non-SNMP protocols so that the solutions can directly share data with a more diverse set of applications out-of-the box. Protocols supported include Windows Messaging Interface (WMI) and XML/SOAP implementations for Cisco Call Manager 5, VMWare API and Solaris DTrace.
  • Real-time Charting: The new VistaPortal enables support for new solution capabilities. Up-coming solutions will introduce Live Charting capability that will self-refresh and provide dynamic visualization of the change in service quality or other performance metrics, allowing users to take action quickly and be more proactive to resolve impending problems.
  • Exception Management workflows: Using a new generation of operators available in both the mediation and consolidation layer, its now possible to detect Service/Resource exceptions and then to use smart exception management workflows within VistaPortal to navigate automatically from an event to meaningful last collected and historical data for root-cause analysis.
  • VistaPortal new features: VistaPortal offers a large set of new features including matrix reports, email report publication, pages and users management.

Pricing and Availability

VistaFoundation Kit 4.0 is currently generally available and is bundled with all VistaInsight solutions version 3.0 and above. Pricing is based on deployment size.
