DataCore Software Builds Forces and Momentum in Australia as Demand for Virtualization Grows

Adds More Local Training and Webinars, More Authorized Solution Providers and Sydney Presence to Service Pacific’s Leading Virtualization Market

October 10, 2007; 05:21 AM

SYDNEY, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DataCore Software, the leading provider of hardware independent, storage virtualization SAN solutions, today announced that it foresees major growth for storage virtualization in Australia/NZ in 2008 and beyond, and in September took several major steps to build its Australia infrastructure to support that growth. Training courses are now available locally for end users, as well as for professional services providers seeking certification in the delivery and implementation of DataCore solutions (see: www.datacore.com/australia). In September, DataCore also added channel sales management and a Sydney base of operations to complement its Melbourne operations and develop and assist its growing network of Australia solution providers.

At this time, Australia is the leading market for server virtualization in the Asia Pacific region, and we believe it is going to be a big one for us, said Peter Thompson, vice president-Asia Pacific, DataCore Software. Our experience, repeated in Europe and in the U.S., is that once a market becomes conversant in the benefits of server virtualization, both solution providers and end users quickly realize that the rest of the sentence is about storage virtualization.

The September activity follows on an equally busy 2007 calendar year to date during which DataCore inked its first distribution agreements in the region with value-added distributors Infotronics in Australia and Datastor in New Zealand, expanded its Australia solution partner network, launched a regularly scheduled, live, local webinar program that is free and available to the public, certified its first DataCore Authorized Training Partner in Australia and achieved major customer successes with Kingston City Council (see: www.datacore.com/pressroom/pr_070919.asp), Iron Mountain, South West Healthcare, Chandler Macleod, Glenvill Group and the Roads and Traffic Authority, NSW (New South Wales), among others.

DataCore expects to continue to expand its Australia and New Zealand solution provider networks. We tend to do very well with partners whose business model is consultative solution sales and implementations and who specialize in Citrix or VMware or other server virtualization or infrastructure software solutions, versus those who have a sell it and ship it mentality, said Thompson. Thats because DataCore storage virtualization lends much to the total solution as a whole and, because it is hardware independent software, it does so without dictating what kind of hardware you have to buy. This freedom of design gives solution providers the opportunity to deliver more value to their customers. The solution providers who are familiar with the benefits of VMware or Citrix quickly make the jump to understanding that DataCore storage virtualization provides the same type of utilization, flexibility and cost control benefits for storage. Add to this our enterprise-class advanced storage services capabilities, like thin provisioning, at SMB prices, and its a big solution that creates a lot of excitement and opportunity.

DataCores Virtual Infrastructure Foundation package, featuring thin provisioning, storage virtualization and management, SANmotion and iSCSI virtual SAN services, (www.datacore.com/products/prod_SANmelody_govirtual.asp) lists for under (US) $1,000. Business continuity, High Availability and Disaster Recovery packages, for two servers, with thin provisioning, storage virtualization and management and remote site mirroring for data protection list for under (US) $10,000.
