Acopia Networks to Demonstrate Intelligent File Virtualization at Storage Decisions, Spring 2007

May 10, 2007; 09:42 AM
Acopia Networks®, Inc., the leader in intelligent file virtualization, today announced that it will demonstrate its ARX systems and FreedomFabric operating system software at Storage Decisions, Spring 2007, taking place May 15 17, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Chicago, IL.

Acopia Booth #501 will highlight its ARX systems ability to simplify file storage management, helping customers to manage the growth, complexity, and cost of unstructured, file data. By providing automatic, policy-driven, data migration, tiering, load balancing, and replication across multi-vendor storage environments, the ARX systems help IT executives to reduce costs and management overhead, and accelerate business workflow.

Acopias FreedomFabric network operating system software delivers the industry's first platform-neutral, network-based, file virtualization solution. By replacing the traditional static mapping between users and storage with a dynamic virtualization layer, FreedomFabric software separates logical access from physical location, masking changes at either end. Management operations that were once manual and disruptive become automatic and transparent reducing operating expenses (OPEX) and capital expenditures (CAPEX), and improving business efficiency.

One of the reasons for the buzz in the industry right now around file virtualization is the huge growth potential for products in this space. Growth potential here is measured by the amount of unstructured data in the enterprise typically 80% of all stored data, said John Webster, principal IT analyst at Illuminata. Acopias file virtualization solutions are starting to play a key role in consolidating and managing the growth of file-based data.

The multitude of global enterprises implementing Acopia speaks for itself, said Kirby Wadsworth, senior vice president of marketing and business development, Acopia. File virtualization is proving to be a powerful tonic for many of todays most troublesome data management challenges, which rapidly translates into significant cost savings and operational improvements. He continued, We look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate these capabilities to the senior IT decision makers at the upcoming Storage Decisions show.
