LinuxWorld San Francisco -- Open Source Is Everywhere

April 11, 2007; 08:47 AM
IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events has announced that attendee registration for LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2007 is now open. The theme for this years event is Open Source is Everywhere and the show will feature a strong spotlight on key areas that demonstrate the widespread acceptance of Linux and open source in corporate IT environments, including the data center, enterprise applications, the desktop, and mobile and embedded Linux. LinuxWorld Conference & Expo® San Francisco, the largest and most comprehensive event that focuses exclusively Linux and open source, is scheduled to take place August 6-9, 2007 at the Moscone Center. Attendees can register by visiting the LinuxWorld® web site at www.linuxworldexpo.com.

During the past several years, Linux has reached a mainstream status through increased deployment in internet applications, the enterprise, mobile devices and desktop computers, and is increasingly ready for, and trusted with, mission critical applications. In addition, open source applications have crossed the threshold in which the majority of companies now consider these solutions on a par with or in preference to other options, recognizing the advantages of lower costs, increased security and flexibility in deployment.

Weve reached a tipping point in the open source industry because though they may not realize it, virtually everyone is using open source, whether its accessing some of the largest search engines on the internet or deploying mission critical applications in IT environments, said Melinda Kendall, vice president, LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. For todays IT professional, systems administrator, and enterprise developer, it doesnt matter what technology they are learning or deploying, they need to know open source and the primary place to learn about it is at LinuxWorld.

LinuxWorld is the premier event for the Linux and open source community, bringing together industry leaders shaping the future of new enterprise technology in the largest single gathering of business and technical leaders deploying Linux and open source solutions.

Registration for LinuxWorld Conference & Expo San Francisco is open and attendees can register for a free exhibit hall pass on or before August 5, 2007 at www.linuxworldexpo.com/register. Exhibit hall passes are $50 thereafter. The pass provides attendees with access to the keynote addresses, feature presentations, birds-of-a-feather meetings and the exhibit hall floor.
