KnowledgeTree Document Management Software Announces OEM Licensing Programme

December 7, 2006; 04:41 AM

KnowledgeTree™, the market leading commercial Open Source document management system, today announced the launch of the "Powered by KnowledgeTree™" OEM Licensing programme, enabling KnowledgeTree Partners to leverage the power of the KnowledgeTree Document Management System within their own branded applications.

The programme provides partners with access to the rich and easy to use document management feature-set of KnowledgeTree Enterprise Edition. Partners may elect to utilize the KnowledgeTree Commercial Installer platform to package their own-branded version of KnowledgeTree for the Microsoft® Windows® or Linux® platforms, or may embed the application within their own offering.

"KnowledgeTree provides OEMs and resellers with a powerful and easy to use document management platform for building their own innovative solutions. Branding is extremely important for our OEM partners, the 'Powered by KnowledgeTree' programme allows them to ensure consistency of the brand message within their offering," says Daniel Chalef of KnowledgeTree developers Jam Warehouse.

The KnowledgeTree Enterprise Edition document management system has a powerful plug-in and user interface template architecture, significantly reducing the cost of customization and extension.

Partners may license KnowledgeTree Enterprise Edition either as a pre-branded compiled application or in source code form, allowing even greater flexibility over their utilization of the application.

The licensing royalty strategy may be tailored to the partner company's business model, allowing for either per server or per user annuity royalties with pricing competitively based around the partner's expected sales volumes.

KnowledgeTree, built on the popular open source LAMP (Apache/MySQL/PHP) stack, has been downloaded more than 240,000 times to date. It is being used by Fortune 500 companies, community organizations, local and state governments and educational and scientific institutions around the world.

The application is available in three editions: KnowledgeTree Enterprise, KnowledgeTree SMB and KnowledgeTree Open Source. In addition to all the functionality of the Open Source edition, some of the other features shipped exclusively with the commercial editions include a WebDAV Integration Server, Client Tools for Windows that provide a familiar Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office interface into the document repository, as well as a direct-to-repository scanning capability.
