First prize will be a one-week LPI-Level-2 training at Heinlein Akademie in Berlin with accomodation, catering and evening program all inclusive (see http://www.heinlein-support.de/web/akademie/kurse/lpi2). Second to fifth prize is a "Self-Study-Kit for LPI201" from "Linup Front", for the preparation to the LPI 201 exam (see http://www.linupfront.de/cgi-bin/shop?op=doc&doc=ssk201⟨=de) and sixth to tenth prize is the book "Samba 3 für Unix/Linux-Administratoren", written by staff members of the company "SerNet" (see http://www.sernet.de/Samba/Buch.html).

All exams will be offered in "Presse-Center" of the "Congress-Centrum Koelnmesse, CC-Ost, 2.OG" on all three days of the exposition. LinuxWorld attendees will pay 60,- EUR for the LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 exams--a 50% discount off the regular price. The Ubuntu Professional exam will be available at a discounted fee of 75,- EUR for UBUNTU community members and 85,- EUR to all other LinuxWorld participants. The MySQL exams are offered at a 50% discount to all conference participants at 85,- EUR. As with LPI exams, all candidates can pay for their exams at the exam room by cash.

All LPI and Ubuntu Professional candidates must pre-register at the LPI website for an LPI ID number at http://www.lpi.org/en/lpi/english/certification/register_now. Exam candidates must bring valid photo identification and their LPI ID number to the exam lab. Exam candidates for MySQL exams must also obtain a MySQL certification ID from the MySQL website at http://www.mysql.com/certification/signup and must also bring valid photo identification and their MySQL certification ID number to the exam events. Due to limited seating at the event candidates for all exams are advised to pre-register at http://lpievent.lpi-german.de

During LinuxWorld Cologne, LPI also invites interested Linux professionals to volunteer to write the "beta" exam for their LPIC-3 certification at 11:00 and 14:30 on November 14-16. This volunteer effort will enable LPI to test their LPIC-3 exams for quality, accuracy and relevancy. The LPIC-3 certification is scheduled for release in January 2007. Similar "beta" exam lab events are scheduled in 2006 at locations around the world and will involve over 300 Linux professionals. Please contact Klaus Behrla (behrla_at_lpi-german.de), Director of Communications, LPI e.V., if you are interested in participating in the LinuxWorld Cologne LPIC-3 event or register at this website for the beta exams: http://lpievent.lpi-german.de. Details on the LPIC-3 certification program can be found at LPI's public twiki at: https://group.lpi.org/cgi-bin/publicwiki/view/Examdev/LPIC-3. LPI also invites Linux professionals and industry representatives to provide input on the Job Task Analysis (JTA) for LPIC-3.

LPI will also host an information booth at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Cologne at Booth E23 in Hall 11.2 of the "Koelnmesse". For further information on LPI's participation at LinuxWorld Cologne please contact LPI e.V., E-Mail: [email protected].
