Pentaho Board Member Larry Augustin to Lead LinuxWorld Open Source Tracks; Open Source Luminary to Lead Agenda to Discuss Development and Best Practices in Open Source

Pentaho Corp., creator of the popular open source business intelligence (BI) suite,  announced that Pentaho Board of Directors member Larry Augustin will be co-chairing the "Open Source Development" and "Open Source Best Practices" tracks at LinuxWorld San Francisco August 14-17.

A successful entrepreneur, founder of VA Software, and active member of Pentaho's board since 2005, Larry brings the unique perspective of someone intimately familiar with the open source software development model. Larry is widely credited as having helped coin the term "open source", and was an early pioneer in the mainstreaming of open source software at VA Software, the company behind Slashdot.org and Sourceforge.net.

Open solutions are scaling across the enterprise and now perform mission critical tasks. The "Open Source Best Practices" track will provide details on how real customers with real mission-critical needs sought a better solution and ended up with open source software.

Developers are the backbone of the new open source economy. The "Open Source Development" track will cover the tools and methodologies of the trade: Eclipse, LAMP, JBoss, GNU Mono, PHP, Ajax, and much, much more.
