November 13, 2007; 06:35 AM Asckey Data Services Ltd ( http://www.asckey.com
), UK channel partner for Data Access Worldwide, announces the release
of the latest version of the Visual DataFlex application development
tool, v12.1.
Visual DataFlex combines the power to create complex business
applications and the resources to build - quickly and easily -
attractive database functionality into a single, user friendly package.
It is targeted at all developers, irrespective of their experience, and
covers both Windows and web application development.
Visual DataFlex 12.1 is available as a free development tool for
non-commercial, personal use. The personal development licence is
unrestricted and - as with the commercial licence - includes access to
multiple data sources, web development, and the Electos CMS system as
well as Windows development and the new Codejock components.
Developers who want to improve the ‘look and feel’ of their
applications are helped by this new release, thanks to the inclusion of
built in Codejock component support. This means that Codejock
CommandBars and Skin Framework components can be included with the
addition of no more than just a few lines of code.
Visual DataFlex v12.1 also provides an AJAX framework that enhances
web application development. The same business logic that drives a
Visual DataFlex Windows application is used, allowing for the creation
of interactive web applications that would, for example, benefit from
look up lists that behave as well as those for a Windows desktop
application.
This new version also enhances Electos, the website content
management system (CMS) powered by Visual Dataflex. This now includes a
comprehensive Web Shop capability that simplifies the process of
building eye-catching e-commerce sites. Electos now also helps users
get the best out of web search engines by providing facilities for page
by page by page descriptions, keywords, etc.
Chris Hibbert, marketing manager, Asckey Data Services Ltd says:
"Equally at home in building Windows or internet applications, or in
developing client and server web services, Visual DataFlex today powers
a surprising number of complex, professionally built business
applications. And yet Visual DataFlex is easy enough for the non IT
specialist to handle*."
Visual DataFlex (Windows or Web applications) offers enterprise
level connectivity to any SQL or ODBC data source without application
source code changes. It allows access to any data source, without
needing to pre-specify a particular database at the point of purchase.
This increases application deployment flexibility as well as low cost
provisions for “Express” database edition usage.
