W3C Community Convenes to Discuss Web Future

http://www.w3.org/--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, authors of the next version of HTML mix it up with Semantic Web developers, security experts, Web accessibility advocates, and the media on the banks of the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts (USA). W3C welcomes over 400 experts from around the world to participate in a compelling Plenary Day Program where they will address issues shaping the future of the Web. Plenary Day is the centerpiece of a week of meetings at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge Hotel where over 40 groups will gather to exchange ideas in meetings and hallway conversations.

This year, the Plenary Day Program includes a panel on the growing relationships between W3C and the at-large developer community; the challenges HTML5 and XHTML2 propose to solve; W3C's emerging vision of what's needed for video on the Web; and a series of lightning talks - 5 minute presentations on a range of technical topics designed to inform, provoke, and inspire the attendees.

The closing discussion entitled "Cracks and Mortar", from W3C Director Tim Berners-Lee, gives a review of the Web to date, and takes a closer look at the gaps for signs of both wear and opportunity.
