Network Solutions Provider Selects IBM Servers and XenSource for Server Virtualization

May 21, 2007; 08:40 AM
XenSource, Inc., the leader in infrastructure virtualization solutions based on the open source Xen hypervisor, today announced that ServerCave, Inc., a network solutions provider serving the small-to-medium business market, has selected XenSource to virtualize its data center and improve its customer service through faster solution implementations and more product offerings.

Serving small to medium businesses, we are always looking for ways to decrease our overhead in order to pass those savings on to our customers, said Chris Rogers, president of ServerCave. XenSource has given us flexibility, scalability, and cost savings on hardware, hosting, power and data center space allowing us to improve our customer service in addition to saving us money.

ServerCave first adopted open source Xen in 2005 and upgraded to XenEnterprise in August 2006. The company considered VMware but found that XenSources paravirtualization technology provided superior performance at an unbeatable price-point. With one data center located in Reston, Virginia and plans to open three more in other locations, ServerCave needed to simplify its infrastructure, increase its management abilities and reduce its power and cooling expenses. ServerCave projects significant cost savings for 2007, with savings increasing exponentially as the new data centers open.

As part of the industrys broadest virtualization portfolio, IBM supports Xen technology on the company's Intel and AMD Opteron processor based System x servers and IBM BladeCenter systems.

As the pioneer of virtualization technology, IBM recognizes there are business opportunities and benefits virtualization extends to businesses of all sizes and industries, said Peter McCaffrey, director of Virtualization at IBM. ServerCave is just one example of how IBM works with XenEnterprise to deliver a powerful virtualization solution that helps users achieve a competitive advantage.

XenSource provides the easiest to use and best-performing enterprise-grade virtualization solutions, said John Bara, VP of marketing at XenSource. The result is that businesses like ServerCave can expand quickly and provide the same services of a much larger organization at a savings to customers.
