August 24, 2006; 04:23 AM Oracle announced that Oracle Application Server 10g Standard
Edition One, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware, was selected as
one of the Best Midmarket Products of the Year by CMP Media's
VARBusiness magazine.
"Our readers tell us that the middle market is one of the
fastest-growing IT categories today," said VARBusiness Publisher Robert
C. DeMarzo. "Oracle Application Server 10g Standard Edition One is one
that best meets that segment's needs."
Oracle Application Server 10g Standard Edition One is streamlined,
easy-to-use and designed specifically to meet the unique needs of small
to mid-size businesses and departmental users. Priced to address the
requirements of these organizations, it provides a pre-integrated Web
Server and Web site development tools, Java development tools and an
out-of-the-box customizable Portal application called "Instant Portal".
Using Oracle Application Server 10g Standard Edition One, customers can
build Internet Web Sites using popular Web Scripting languages such as
PHP, PERL and Java Server Pages (JSP). They can also build e-Commerce
applications to help grow their businesses on the Internet using a Java
development tool that supports industry standards such as JSP, Servlets
and Enterprise Java Beans. Finally, the Instant Portal enables users to
publish content and share documents securely with colleagues, customers
and partners without requiring professional developers. Oracle
Application Server 10g Standard Edition One addresses the needs of
companies who want to start small, but also be adequately prepared for
future growth in Oracle and non-Oracle technology environments.
"Small and medium businesses need high quality infrastructure software
that is easy to implement and maintain while providing the flexibility
and scalability required for growth," said Rick Schultz, vice
president, Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle. "The VARBusiness 'Best
Midmarket Products of the Year' award is further evidence that our
small and medium business offering of Oracle Fusion Middleware meets
the unique needs of these customers."
VARBusiness, the biweekly magazine that provides strategic insight to
technology integrators, solicited input from information-technology
(IT) vendors and solution providers to determine which products and
services were best for midmarket customers - companies with between 100
and 999 employees. The roundup ranges from security and business
software to VoIP and storage. Entries were considered and reviewed by
VARBusiness editors who selected only 45 of the more than 350 nominated
products.
