Solid Information Technology Invites the Open Source Community to Download solidDB for MySQL Beta

July 27, 2006; 06:07 AM
Solid Information Technology, a provider of fast, always-on and affordable databases used in more than 3,000,000 mission-critical deployments worldwide,  announced the availability of the beta version of its open source product, solidDB(TM) for MySQL. solidDB for MySQL is covered under GNU Public License (GPL) and is downloadable from http://forge.mysql.com and http://dev.soliddb.com/download.

solidDB for MySQL is based on Solid's proven online transaction processing (OLTP) technology. Upon general availability in the fourth quarter of 2006, the product will support mission critical applications that require a high level of reliability and large transaction volumes.

"I like the new product Solid Information Technology announced today -- a combination of Solid transactional software with MySQL Server. For MySQL AB, it's a useful and timely countermeasure against the double threat of Oracle-Innobase and Oracle-Sleepycat," said Rachel Chalmers, senior analyst at The 451 Group, a technology industry analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation. This comment appeared on 451 CAOS Theory -- a blog for the enterprise open source community -- on April 17, 2006 (see Editor's Note below).

solidDB (http://dev.soliddb.com/download) for MySQL consists of MySQL Server and solidDB Storage Engine for MySQL.
