Iptivia, a leading provider of IP service assurance solutions to
enterprises and service providers, today announced that it has been
awarded its fifth patent in managing and deploying the real time
requirements of next-generation, mission-critical IP networks. This
patent's unique qualities involve the way that routing knowledge
combines with traffic measurement information obtained from a small
number of monitoring points located at the edge of the network.
According to Roch Guerin, co-founder and chief scientist of Iptivia,
"Such a combination enables a complete and accurate picture of not only
how much traffic is flowing on every network link, but also where that
traffic is originating, and who is contributing what amount. This
lightweight and non-intrusive solution provides Iptivia's new level of
IP assurance that we call service fidelity."
Using Iptivia's patented techniques, network operators and engineers
can gain real time visibility to traffic flow generated by video, voice
and high speed data applications. They can more accurately monitor
customer service level agreements (SLAs) and more rapidly detect
service-affecting incidents caused by unexpected path changes or
congestion. When used with the powerful route analytics capabilities of
Iptivia's RouteDynamics product, the patented technology facilitates
the means to analyze the impact of network failures so that network
operators understand if and how business-critical services are affected
as traffic flows are re-routed.
Dr. Inder Gopal, co-founder and chief executive officer of Iptivia,
believes that the business benefits of leveraging Iptivia's patented
technology to resolve limitations of traditional traffic monitoring are
significant. According to Dr. Gopal, "With Iptivia's Service fidelity
solutions, our customers will see decreases in the traditional costs
associated with activating traffic monitoring at strategic choke points
as well as in the capital expenses to deploy added capacity to ensure
adequate margins. They will experience reductions in the time it takes
to troubleshoot and trace back root causes, and declines in the length
and frequency of service disruptions. What's more, they will see an
improvement in the accuracy of network provisioning."
Unlike current tools and processes, Iptivia's Service Fidelity
Solution addresses traditional traffic monitoring problems that involve
requiring packet probes or activating the router's traffic monitoring
on all links. Such problems include the higher costs of deploying and
activating the necessary equipment or functionality on each individual
link requiring traffic monitoring; the often intrusive nature of this
monitoring which degrades performance of the traffic being monitored;
the processing and warehousing of large amounts of data that each
monitored link generates; and the lack of visibility into how traffic
patterns on different links are associated with each other.
About Iptivia:
Founded in 2005, Iptivia is the first company to deliver service
fidelity through its groundbreaking technology based on real-time
service path visibility. Originally developed in 2001, Iptivia holds
five key patents for its advanced technologies. Iptivia's ability to
deliver this new and essential level of IP service assurance enables
service providers to cost-effectively deliver optimal end-user
experiences for video, voice, and other real-time IP applications.
Iptivia's customers include wire line and wireless carriers, cable
operators, as well as other converged service providers. Iptivia is
privately held; founders are Inder Gopal, Robert Nault, Raju Rajan and
Roch Guerin.
